Building Strength, Honor & Respect

Life doesn't just stand still. Every day we are faced with new challenges, even though we may not recognize them as challenges at the time. It could be as simple as learning how to use our new technologically advance cell phone or anything that has an impact on our day to day lives. By taking on new challenges voluntarily we are also preparing our minds (and sometimes, bodies) to be ready to adapt to changes that are forced upon us. Of course we can always refuse to adapt to change, but that could also have a negative impact on our lives, and can make our lives much harder than they need to be. 

Isshinryu karate isn't all about being able to fight and protect yourself, but its also about challenging yourself mentally and feeding your bushido (never give up) spirit. As you gain more experience it will also become about extending yourself to help others do the same.

We have been part of this Dojo Family for over ten years. It seems like it was yesterday, when we first enrolled our son as a white belt and our daughter thereafter. Many memories we have, a lot of sweat, bruises, hard work and trophies, but most of all the satisfaction to see our son and daughter excel outside the dojo. Karate has given us a lot, like the warm feeling of a big family with the objective of teaching the kids the art of karate. They both have gained a lot from their training with Sensei Jim Kelly and with no doubt the leadership, confidence and self discipline obtained will always be the best tools for their futures
